Nervous System Care
First and foremost, chiropractic is a natural approach to caring for your nervous system. The spine is what protects your spinal cord and nerves, so when your spine is in proper alignment, your nervous system is able to function optimally, and from there, so can your other organs and systems. If your spine is out of alignment, the communication from your brain, down your spinal cord, and out through your nerves is interrupted. Chiropractors call this a “subluxation,” and correcting subluxations is the purpose of an adjustment. The body naturally becomes subluxated due to the stresses of daily life, and keeping your spine free of subluxations allows your nervous system to function at its best, and in turn, keeping you at your best!
Pain Management
When the chiropractic profession first began, it was an alternative to the medical treatments of the day in which leech therapy, toxic chemical concoctions, bloodletting, and more were commonly practiced by doctors. Alternatively, the sole focus of chiropractic was on correcting the subluxations and nervous system interference to allow for improved health and healing with adjustments. Patients began to notice, however, that a side effect of the adjustment was that back, neck, and limb pain lessened or disappeared. Today, while the primary focus is still correcting subluxations, chiropractic is extremely effective at eliminating pain. Many different techniques and styles are used in our office, described here. Neck, mid-back, and low back pain are common issues we help our patients overcome on a day-to-day basis. Dr. Lombardozzi also specializes in extremities such as hands, feet, shoulders, and elbows. Conditions such as carpal tunnel, tennis or golfers elbow, frozen shoulder, impingement syndrome, and plantar fasciitis, are all able to be helped through chiropractic.
Pre/Post-Natal Care
Many women before, during, and after pregnancy are looking for a natural alternative to traditional medical care. Chiropractic is a gentle and effective approach for a mother and child during pregnancy. Keeping the spine, especially the pelvic region, free of misalignments is vital to a child’s development and the comfort of the mother. Tuckahoe Family Chiropractic is a safe and comfortable environment for any expectant mother to receive chiropractic treatments.
Pediatric Care
Most are surprised to learn that chiropractic is proven natural, gentle, and effective for children. Dr. Lombardozzi has worked on infants as young as a few days old and all through life, from toddlers to teenagers. Slightly different techniques are used on children to ensure safety, as their bones and spinal columns are still growing and changing. The basis behind pediatric adjustments is rooted in the development of a healthy immune system. Certainly sometimes children fall and hurt themselves, causing them to need chiropractic care for pain management. However, the most important part of pediatric chiropractic is the support of the nervous and immune systems. Chiropractic has been shown to improve symptoms of colic in infants, aid children in fighting off common cold and infections, improve allergy and asthma symptoms, and increase mobility and flexibility throughout development. In addition, scoliosis is a more and more common diagnosis for children between the ages of 9 and 15. Chiropractic is an effective treatment to help stop the progression of scoliosis and manage any pain associated with the condition.
Seniors
Chiropractic is just as effective for seniors. As you age, the body begins to change, and many people feel as if they are beginning to fall apart. This does not have to be the case! Our most elderly patient is 98 years old. Common conditions we see as patients begin to age are spinal stenosis, herniated discs, arthritis, osteoporosis, high blood pressure, kyphosis, and many more. Chiropractic is a non-invasive treatment requiring no medications and no surgeries! Many believe that pill bottles and hospital visits are just a part of the again process. That is not what we believe at Tuckahoe Family Chiropractic. Our patients are able to live their lives continuing to do what they love to do every day, regardless of their age.
